We are seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to join our elite IT team in the heart of Chicago, IL. As part of our organization, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our server environments, ensuring 99.9% uptime and top-tier security standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy solutions that drive business growth.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and optimization of on-premise and cloud-based servers (Linux and Windows Server).
- Security & Compliance: Implement and monitor firewall policies, VPN configurations, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard corporate data.
- System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and streamline IT workflows.
- Backup & Recovery: Design and execute robust backup strategies to ensure data integrity and rapid recovery in case of disaster.
- Network Administration: Collaborate with network engineers to troubleshoot connectivity issues and optimize network performance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience as a System Administrator or Network Engineer.
- Operating Systems: Deep expertise in Windows Server (Active Directory, Group Policy) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Cloud Knowledge: Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Scripting: Strong proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
