Responsibilities
- Continuous Monitoring: Monitor security alerts and SIEM data streams in real-time to identify and respond to potential threats and anomalies.
- Incident Response: Assist in the investigation and remediation of security incidents, including malware analysis and phishing investigations.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and applications.
- Access Control: Manage user access permissions and conduct periodic reviews of access logs to ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Security Awareness: Develop and deliver security awareness training materials to educate employees on best practices and emerging threats.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or ISO 27001 as applicable to the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably within a SOC environment.
- Tools: Proficiency in security tools such as Splunk, SIEM, Firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms.
- Networking: Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common network topologies.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or GSEC certification is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and the ability to work independently in a part-time capacity.
