Responsibilities
- Assist in the continuous monitoring of network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools like Splunk or QRadar.
- Support the implementation and configuration of firewall rules and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct preliminary vulnerability scanning and help remediate identified security weaknesses.
- Document security incidents and contribute to post-incident reports.
- Collaborate with IT departments to ensure patch management and system hardening.
- Participate in penetration testing exercises and red team exercises under supervision.
- Stay updated on the latest threat intelligence and cybersecurity trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree).
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP protocols.
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems and command line interfaces.
- Willingness to obtain industry-recognized certifications (Security+, Network+, or CCNA preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting technical findings.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.
