Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems to detect and respond to cyber threats
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents and compile detailed incident reports
- Implement and maintain security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection platforms
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and other regulatory frameworks
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop and execute incident response plans for various threat scenarios
- Create security awareness training materials and conduct employee briefings
- Stay current with emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, SOC, or incident response
- Industry certifications: Security+, CISSP, or GIAC preferred
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and threat intelligence platforms
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, cloud architectures (AWS/Azure), and operating systems
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, Qualys) and penetration testing
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to document complex technical procedures
- Active TS/SCI clearance preferred (or ability to obtain)
