Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) to detect and respond to potential threats
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents and prepare detailed incident reports
- Implement and maintain security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop and maintain security documentation including playbooks and SOPs
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA standards
- Stay current with emerging threats and recommend security improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in security operations, threat detection, or incident response
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency with SIEM tools, network protocols, and forensic methodologies
- Strong understanding of cloud security (AWS/Azure) and zero-trust architectures
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms (Mandiant, Recorded Future)
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate complex security concepts
- Active DoD Secret clearance preferred
