Apex Cyber Defense is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cybersecurity Analyst to join our elite security operations center (SOC) in the heart of San Jose. We are not just looking for monitorers; we are looking for threat hunters and defenders who are passionate about protecting critical infrastructure.
As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in our zero-trust architecture initiatives, ensuring that our organization remains resilient against evolving cyber threats. You will leverage cutting-edge SIEM tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enforce security best practices across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in our infrastructure.
- Investigate security incidents, root cause analysis, and orchestrate incident response procedures to minimize downtime.
- Implement and maintain firewalls, endpoint protection, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
- Develop and update security policies, procedures, and compliance documentation in alignment with industry standards (GDPR, HIPAA, NIST).
- Collaborate with IT engineering teams to patch vulnerabilities and harden system configurations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or GSEC are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, SOC operations, or network security.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI models, and network protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automating security tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
