This hybrid role combines remote collaboration with on-site presence in our downtown Oakland security operations center. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to real-time threat detection in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems 24/7 using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) to detect and respond to cyber threats
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on client networks
- Investigate security incidents, document findings, and implement remediation protocols
- Generate comprehensive security reports for executive stakeholders and compliance teams
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls and best practices
- Stay current on emerging threats and contribute to threat intelligence initiatives
- Participate in security audits and compliance reviews (NIST, ISO 27001)
Qualifications
- 3+ years of cybersecurity experience with hands-on incident response
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required
- Proficiency in SIEM platforms, firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), and endpoint protection
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, and cloud security (AWS/Azure)
- Experience with threat hunting techniques and MITRE ATT&CK framework
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to prioritize critical incidents
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
