Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems and alerts for suspicious activity and potential cyber threats.
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and VPNs.
- Conduct vulnerability scans and report findings to senior security engineers.
- Document security incidents, incidents logs, and incident response procedures.
- Participate in penetration testing exercises and red team operations to identify system weaknesses.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and defense strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent military experience).
- Zero to two years of experience in IT or technical support (internships are accepted).
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Willingness to obtain CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification within 6 months of hire.
