Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Execute critical system updates, security patches, and database backups during off-peak hours to minimize downtime for our global users.
- Code Deployment: Lead weekend release cycles using CI/CD pipelines, ensuring zero-downtime deployments for our microservices architecture.
- Incident Response: Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend technical escalations, troubleshooting complex issues with a sense of urgency.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze system logs and metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize application performance over the weekend.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation for all systems managed during the weekend shift, ensuring knowledge transfer for the on-call team.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Product and DevOps teams to plan sprint releases and resolve technical debt.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Availability: Must be available to work a regular weekend schedule (e.g., Saturday and Sunday, or alternating weekends) with the ability to be on-call during this time.
- Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java and experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
- Tools: Strong command of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and orchestration tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Problem Solving: Exceptional debugging skills and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
