Job Description

Join the Front Lines of Digital Defense

We are seeking a visionary Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to lead our Threat Intelligence and Incident Response operations in the heart of New York City. At Apex Cyber Defense, we don't just react to threats; we anticipate them. As a key member of our elite security team, you will architect robust defense mechanisms, oversee our SIEM infrastructure, and spearhead initiatives to safeguard our clients' critical assets from sophisticated cyber threats.

In this role, you will have the autonomy to drive security strategy, mentor junior analysts, and ensure full compliance with federal and industry standards (NIST, SOC 2). If you thrive in a high-pressure environment and are passionate about protecting the digital ecosystem, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Threat Detection & Response: Monitor security operations centers (SOC) for anomalies, conduct real-time threat hunting, and execute rapid incident response plans to mitigate breaches.
  • SIEM Management: Oversee the configuration, tuning, and optimization of SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm) to enhance alert correlation and reduce false positives.
  • Security Architecture & Compliance: Design and implement security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS) and ensure strict adherence to regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, NY State Cybersecurity Regulations).
  • Vulnerability Management: Lead annual penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, driving the remediation of identified weaknesses across the enterprise infrastructure.
  • Security Awareness Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive security training programs to educate employees on phishing, social engineering, and data protection best practices.
  • Incident Reporting: Produce detailed post-incident reports and forensic analyses to document lessons learned and improve future defense postures.

Qualifications

  • Certifications: Active CISSP, CEH, CISM, or GIAC GCIH certification is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years in a senior analyst or team lead role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SIEM technologies (Splunk preferred), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne), and network security appliances.
  • Programming: Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automating security tasks and generating custom reports.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Legal Compliance: Deep understanding of US federal cybersecurity laws and data privacy regulations.
