Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar)
- Investigate potential security incidents and escalate critical threats
- Document security events using NIST frameworks and compliance standards
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing exercises
- Assist with security policy development and implementation
- Collaborate with network engineering teams on security hardening
- Complete industry-recognized security certifications (CompTIA Security+, CISSP Associate)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Foundational knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Familiarity with security concepts (CIA triad, threat vectors, encryption)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 security operations environment
- CompTIA Security+ certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
- US citizenship required for government contract compliance
