Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and system logs to detect, analyze, and respond to potential security breaches and cyber threats.
- Conduct routine vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in our infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Respond to security incidents and assist in the forensic analysis and recovery of compromised systems.
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, NIST).
- Document security incidents, configuration changes, and incident reports for audit purposes.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and threat intelligence to proactively defend the network.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent military experience).
- Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and OSI model.
- Familiarity with security tools such as Wireshark, Snort, Nmap, or SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to obtain industry-recognized certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, CISSP) within the first year.
