Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) to detect and analyze cyber threats
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on network infrastructure
- Document security incidents and create detailed forensic reports
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement security patches and best practices
- Assist in developing incident response plans and disaster recovery procedures
- Stay updated on emerging threats via threat intelligence platforms (AlienVault, Recorded Future)
- Participate in 24/7 rotational on-call security operations support
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Familiarity with NIST frameworks and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Basic knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
- Experience with Linux/Windows command-line interfaces
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in remote team environments
- Valid US driver's license (for occasional on-site visits to San Diego office)
