Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and investigate potential threats
- Document security incidents, vulnerabilities, and remediation efforts following NIST frameworks
- Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing under senior guidance
- Implement and maintain security controls (firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection)
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with security policies (ISO 27001, SOC 2)
- Participate in tabletop exercises and security awareness training initiatives
- Research emerging threats and contribute to threat intelligence reports
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CompTIA Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
- Passion for cybersecurity and eagerness to learn new technologies
