Responsibilities
- Monitor security events and alerts in real-time using SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel) to identify and mitigate active threats.
- Conduct thorough incident investigations, including forensic analysis and root cause determination.
- Perform regular vulnerability assessments, risk scans, and penetration testing to harden system defenses.
- Manage and configure firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs to enforce strict network security policies.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
- Produce detailed security reports and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance (NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA).
- Engage in threat hunting activities to proactively uncover hidden risks within the network.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent military/industry experience).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or Incident Response role.
- Valid certification is highly preferred: CISSP, CEH, Security+, or CISM.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, Elastic, or similar) and EDR solutions (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne).
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and common network protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation and threat hunting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex security concepts to stakeholders.
