Responsibilities
- Design and validate safety-critical systems for autonomous vehicles using ISO 26262 and SOTIF standards
- Lead failure mode analysis and risk assessments for complex autonomous driving scenarios
- Develop simulation environments to test edge-case safety scenarios in virtual environments
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate safety constraints into machine learning models
- Establish real-time monitoring systems for vehicle operational safety metrics
- Drive regulatory compliance initiatives for autonomous vehicle safety certifications
- Mentor junior engineers on safety engineering best practices and emerging standards
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field with 5+ years of experience
- Expertise in autonomous vehicle safety systems and sensor fusion technologies
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and simulation tools (CarSim, PreScan, or similar)
- Certification in Functional Safety (ISO 26262) or Automotive SPICE
- Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded safety-critical architectures
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional safety validation projects
- Strong background in data analysis for safety performance optimization
- Published research or patents in autonomous vehicle safety preferred
