Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity
- Assist with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing exercises
- Document security incidents and create incident response reports
- Perform initial triage of security alerts and escalations
- Conduct basic network traffic analysis using Wireshark and similar tools
- Participate in security awareness training and phishing simulations
- Update and maintain security documentation and knowledge bases
- Collaborate with senior analysts on threat intelligence research
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CompTIA Security+ certification (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to obtain relevant certifications within first 6 months
- US citizenship or ability to obtain government clearance if required
