Apex Government Systems is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior System Administrator to support our federal client in Washington, DC. We are currently hiring now for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our enterprise infrastructure. You will ensure high availability of critical systems, manage cloud migrations, and lead the security hardening of our IT environment. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain on-premise Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services.
- Design, configure, and support hybrid cloud infrastructure utilizing Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Automate administrative tasks and workflows using PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Conduct regular system patching, updates, and performance tuning to ensure optimal system stability.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 and FedRAMP standards.
- Lead incident response planning and disaster recovery initiatives to minimize operational downtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience as a System Administrator or Network Engineer.
- Deep expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Strong experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in scripting languages, specifically PowerShell, for automation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
