We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to join our elite engineering team in San Francisco. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our hybrid cloud environment, ensuring maximum uptime, security, and scalability. You will work closely with DevOps engineers and developers to automate deployment pipelines and streamline our operational workflows. Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux (RHEL, CentOS) and Windows Server environments to ensure 99.99% system uptime.
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS, including VPCs, EC2, S3, and IAM security models.
- Automate routine tasks and deployment processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor system health, analyze performance metrics, and proactively identify potential bottlenecks or security vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and integrate new applications into the existing infrastructure.
- Implement and enforce strict security protocols, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls to protect sensitive data.
- Conduct regular system backups, disaster recovery drills, and provide technical documentation for all infrastructure changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience is highly valued.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience as a System Administrator or DevOps Engineer in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Strong proficiency in Linux administration and Windows Server management.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expert knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and firewall management (Cisco, Palo Alto).
- Demonstrated ability to write complex scripts for automation and infrastructure provisioning.
- Certifications such as RHCE, AWS Solutions Architect, or CompTIA Security+ are a significant plus.
