Job Description
Are you ready to engineer the future of finance? Apex Derivatives is seeking a visionary Software Engineer to join our elite team building the infrastructure behind modern equity options trading. We operate at the intersection of high-frequency trading and complex financial mathematics, and we need a developer who thrives in high-pressure environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for architecting low-latency systems that process millions of market ticks per second. You will work directly with traders and quantitative researchers to bridge the gap between theoretical models and real-world execution. This is a remote-first position with a strong presence in our San Diego office, offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States while being part of a world-class engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize high-performance C++ and Python code for equity options execution engines and market data feeds.
- Implement and maintain sophisticated risk management algorithms to ensure compliance with SEC and exchange regulations.
- Collaborate with quants to integrate complex options pricing models (e.g., Black-Scholes, Monte Carlo) into production systems.
- Ensure system availability and fault tolerance in a distributed, high-throughput trading environment.
- Debug complex multi-threaded applications and optimize memory usage for maximum throughput and minimal latency.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers to maintain high technical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a specific focus on low-latency systems or high-frequency trading.
- Proficiency in C++ (modern standards C++11/14/17/20) and Python.
- Deep understanding of operating systems, concurrency, threading models, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
- Experience with SQL and distributed databases (e.g., Kafka, Redis, Cassandra).
- Familiarity with options pricing models, derivatives, and financial markets is highly preferred.
