Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts from SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to identify potential threats.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk management activities to ensure compliance with NIST and FISMA standards.
- Respond to and remediate security incidents in a timely manner, following incident response playbooks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement security controls and patch vulnerabilities.
- Generate reports on security posture and compliance metrics for stakeholders.
- Perform penetration testing and red team operations to stress-test system defenses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity role, preferably within the defense or government sector.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or GSEC are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
- Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting for automation and log analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
