The Role:
In this position, you will be the first line of defense against cyber threats. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify vulnerabilities, respond to incidents, and implement robust security measures that align with NIST and FISMA standards.
Responsibilities
- Security Operations: Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to identify and mitigate potential threats in real-time.
- Incident Response: Lead the investigation and remediation of security incidents, ensuring minimal impact to business operations.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analyses to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure all systems and processes comply with federal cybersecurity policies, including NIST 800-53 and DFARS.
- Security Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on cybersecurity best practices and emerging threats.
- Access Control: Manage user access rights and perform regular audits to enforce the principle of least privilege.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certifications: Active Secret clearance is required; CISSP, Security+, or GSEC certification is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network defense, or a related technical role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and scripting languages (Python or Bash).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
