Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and security systems to identify and mitigate potential cyber threats in real-time.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits to identify weaknesses in the network.
- Manage and configure firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and VPNs to enforce security policies.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans to ensure rapid recovery from security breaches.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including NIST and Texas state data privacy laws.
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement secure coding practices and patch management.
- Document security incidents and produce detailed reports for management review.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical field.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or GSEC are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network defense, or information security analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and common network protocols.
- Proficiency in security tools (e.g., Splunk, FireEye, Snort, Palo Alto).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make high-pressure decisions.
