Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and events using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to detect and mitigate potential threats in real-time.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify weaknesses in systems and networks.
- Manage and configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection solutions.
- Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to contain, eradicate, and recover from cyberattacks.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and GDPR.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident reports.
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to staff members to foster a security-first culture.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity analysis or a related role.
- Certifications: Active CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GSEC certification is highly required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in log analysis (Splunk, ELK Stack) and experience with scripting languages (Python or PowerShell).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common attack vectors (phishing, malware, ransomware).
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Location: Must be willing to work on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
