The Role:
We are looking for a vigilant security professional to lead our threat detection efforts and ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards. You will work closely with our engineering teams to proactively identify vulnerabilities and respond to emerging threats in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security events using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel) to detect and respond to cyber threats in real-time.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in network architecture and applications.
- Manage and configure firewall rules and security policies to ensure robust defense against unauthorized access.
- Investigate security incidents, root cause analysis, and produce detailed incident reports for executive stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the IT and DevOps teams to implement security best practices into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA.
- Train junior staff and interns on security protocols and safe coding practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity or network security.
- Active CISSP, CEH, or Security+ certification is highly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with SIEM technologies, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, and network segmentation.
- Proven experience in incident response and digital forensics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work part-time hours (20-30 hours/week) with high autonomy in a San Jose-based or hybrid setting.
