Job Description

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Equity Options Data Analyst to join our dynamic team in Chicago. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the bridge between raw market data and actionable trading strategies. You will be responsible for cleaning, processing, and analyzing vast datasets related to equity options, helping us uncover trends, volatility patterns, and pricing anomalies.

You will work closely with our quantitative researchers and traders to build robust models and visualizations that drive our investment decisions. If you have a strong background in finance and data science and are passionate about the options market, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, clean, and normalize massive datasets from multiple exchanges and financial data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, CBOE, proprietary feeds).
  • Develop complex SQL queries and Python scripts (Pandas, NumPy) to automate data pipelines and reporting.
  • Analyze option Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Vega, Theta) and implied volatility surfaces to identify market inefficiencies.
  • Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or PowerBI to communicate insights to the trading floor.
  • Collaborate with the trading desk to define data requirements and support real-time decision-making processes.
  • Conduct statistical analysis on historical options data to validate and improve trading strategies.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in data analysis, specifically within the financial services or options trading sector.
  • Proficiency in SQL for database management and complex querying.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
  • Deep understanding of options pricing models (Black-Scholes, Binomial) and market terminology.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) is highly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
