Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
- Analyze network traffic logs and system events to identify suspicious activities and anomalies.
- Assist in the investigation and containment of security incidents using standard forensic procedures.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Document security protocols, incident reports, and operational procedures to ensure organizational compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and improve overall system resilience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent military/technical experience).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, OSI Model, DNS, DHCP, HTTP).
- Familiarity with operating systems, specifically Windows and Linux command line interfaces.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- CompTIA Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- A genuine passion for cybersecurity and a desire to stay updated on the latest threats.
