Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity
- Investigate and document cybersecurity incidents using established protocols
- Assist with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing exercises
- Implement security controls and maintain compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001)
- Collaborate with IT teams to patch vulnerabilities and harden systems
- Create security awareness materials for employee training programs
- Participate in incident response drills and tabletop exercises
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Understanding of common security threats and mitigation strategies
- Ability to learn security tools (Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CompTIA Security+ certification preferred (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
