Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) and triage potential threats
- Assist with vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and security assessments
- Document security incidents and contribute to incident response playbooks
- Implement security controls and maintain compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remediate security gaps
- Research emerging cyber threats and contribute to threat intelligence reports
- Participate in security awareness training and phishing simulation campaigns
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and security fundamentals
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 SOC environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Active willingness to pursue advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH)
