Responsibilities
- Monitor Security Events: Analyze logs and alerts from SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel) to identify potential threats and suspicious activities.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems.
- Incident Response: Lead or support the investigation and remediation of security incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
- Network Defense: Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs to protect network boundaries.
- Access Control: Manage user permissions, enforce identity and access management (IAM) policies, and conduct periodic access reviews.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory standards such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOC 2.
- Reporting: Generate and present security reports to stakeholders and management regarding system health and threat landscape.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is required.
- Certifications: CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GCIH preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or systems administration.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network protocols, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Tools: Proficiency with security tools (e.g., FireEye, Snort, Nessus) and scripting languages (Python/Bash).
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical teams.
