Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity and initiate incident response protocols
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and playbooks
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls and ensure compliance with NIST and CIS frameworks
- Analyze network traffic and logs to detect, investigate, and remediate security incidents
- Stay current on emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies for Alaskan-specific risks
- Assist with security awareness training for employees across remote locations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations or incident response
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required (GIAC preferred)
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) and security automation tools
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms (Mandiant, Recorded Future)
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations with minimal supervision
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one (mandatory for role)
