Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and investigate potential threats
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop and maintain security documentation including incident response plans and policies
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls and ensure compliance with NIST/CIS frameworks
- Analyze malware and intrusion attempts using forensic tools (e.g., Wireshark, FTK)
- Lead incident response activities including containment, eradication, and recovery
- Provide security awareness training to employees and stakeholders
- Stay current on emerging threats and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience in SOC analyst or similar role
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency in security tools: SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet), and endpoint protection
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and common protocols (HTTP, DNS, FTP)
- Experience with Linux/Windows system administration and security hardening
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to document complex technical procedures
- Ability to work rotating shifts for 24/7 security operations coverage
