Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) to detect and respond to threats
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents and develop mitigation strategies
- Implement and maintain security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR) for enterprise systems
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop incident response playbooks and conduct tabletop exercises
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and DISA STIGs
- Generate comprehensive security reports for leadership and regulatory stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years hands-on experience in SOC operations or threat analysis
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or GIAC certification preferred
- Proficiency in SIEM tools, packet analysis (Wireshark), and vulnerability scanners
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, Windows/Linux systems, and cloud environments
- Experience with incident response frameworks (NIST SP 800-61) and threat intelligence feeds
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and make critical decisions
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
