Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems to identify anomalous activity and potential breaches
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents, documenting findings and recommending remediation actions
- Implement and maintain security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection platforms
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to proactively identify system weaknesses
- Collaborate with IT teams to develop incident response plans and disaster recovery procedures
- Generate comprehensive security reports for executive stakeholders and compliance documentation
- Stay current with emerging threats and cybersecurity trends through continuous research and training
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in security operations center (SOC) environments
- Industry certifications: Security+, CISSP, or GIAC preferred
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and threat intelligence platforms
- Strong understanding of network protocols, cloud security (AWS/Azure), and compliance frameworks (NIST, HIPAA)
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to correlate complex security events
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work rotating shifts in 24/7 security operations environment
