Apex Cyber Defense is currently urgently hiring a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst for our elite Night Shift team. This is a 100% Remote position, allowing top talent to work from anywhere in the US while protecting our critical infrastructure based in San Jose, California.
As a key member of our Security Operations Center (SOC), you will be responsible for 24/7 threat monitoring, incident response, and maintaining the highest standards of data protection. What You Will Do:
Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and event logs in real-time to detect, analyze, and respond to cyber threats and intrusions.
- Execute incident response procedures to contain breaches and mitigate risks during the night shift.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on remote systems to identify weaknesses before exploitation.
- Manage and tune SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to ensure optimal threat detection and reporting.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to patch vulnerabilities and strengthen network security protocols.
- Document all security incidents, actions taken, and resolution steps in the knowledge base.
- Ensure compliance with internal security policies and industry regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, SOC, or Information Security roles.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or GCIH are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, networking, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment with high availability requirements.
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash for automation and log analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly.
