The Opportunity:
We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment but values predictability. As our Weekend Shift Engineer, you will handle critical deployments, system monitoring, and bug fixes when our engineering team is offline. Responsibilities
- Execute weekend maintenance windows and perform critical software updates without disrupting core business operations.
- Monitor system health, performance metrics, and logs to proactively identify and resolve anomalies.
- Conduct code reviews and debugging sessions for features deployed on Friday nights.
- Collaborate with the QA team to validate hotfixes and patches before they go live.
- Automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning to improve efficiency.
- Document system architecture changes and operational procedures for the on-call team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with the weekday engineering team.
