Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, etc.) to ensure rapid threat containment.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify weaknesses in network architecture.
- Manage and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection systems to safeguard organizational assets.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure regulatory compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA, NIST).
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
- Respond to security breaches and coordinate with legal and PR teams as necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or a related field.
- Certification preferred: CISSP, CEH, CISM, or Security+.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and common network protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and security tooling.
- Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting or in a hybrid office in San Diego.
