In this role, you will play a critical role in safeguarding sensitive data and infrastructure. You will work a flexible schedule (e.g., 20-25 hours/week) to monitor security operations, analyze potential threats, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events in real-time using SIEM platforms like Splunk or QRadar.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on internal and external networks.
- Implement and maintain robust firewall rules, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
- Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches with minimal downtime.
- Ensure strict compliance with industry standards (PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR).
- Document security policies, incident reports, and technical procedures.
- Collaborate with full-time engineering teams to patch vulnerabilities and secure cloud environments.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or information security.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or Security+ are strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and IDS/IPS systems.
- Experience with Linux, Windows Server, and cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a part-time, remote or hybrid capacity.
