Are you a security enthusiast looking for a flexible schedule? Lubbock Cyber Defense is seeking a skilled Part-Time Cybersecurity Analyst to join our dynamic team in Lubbock, TX. You will play a critical role in safeguarding our digital infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of our corporate networks.
In this role, you will work approximately 20-25 hours per week, providing essential security oversight and supporting our full-time team during peak hours and critical operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Security Operations: Continuously monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts using SIEM tools to detect potential threats and vulnerabilities in real-time.
- Incident Response: Investigate and respond to security incidents, malware infections, and unauthorized access attempts according to established protocols.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate the patching process to mitigate security risks across the organization.
- Compliance Reporting: Assist in preparing and maintaining documentation for audits, ensuring adherence to NIST, HIPAA, and local data privacy regulations.
- Security Awareness: Collaborate with IT staff to deliver security awareness training and enforce best practices for password management and secure browsing.
- Access Control: Review and manage user access rights to ensure the principle of least privilege is maintained.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications: Current CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent security certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT support, or network administration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint protection solutions (e.g., EDR).
- Tools: Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk, LogRhythm, or similar).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to non-technical staff.
