Apex Cyber Defense is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Cybersecurity Analyst to join our elite team in Austin. We are offering a competitive hourly rate and the exciting opportunity to receive Equity Options as part of our performance-based compensation package.
In this role, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our infrastructure and protecting sensitive data. You will work closely with our full-time staff to ensure our security posture remains robust against evolving threats.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and Analyze: Continuously monitor SIEM systems and security alerts to identify and respond to potential threats in real-time.
- Incident Response: Assist in the triage and investigation of security incidents, including phishing attacks and malware intrusions.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct periodic vulnerability scans and assist in remediating identified security weaknesses within our network and applications.
- Compliance Support: Aid in maintaining compliance with standards such as SOC2 and HIPAA by ensuring proper documentation and access controls are in place.
- User Training: Collaborate with the IT team to deliver security awareness training to employees, fostering a culture of security.
Qualifications
- Certifications: Active CISSP, Security+, or CEH certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or IT support.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
- Tools: Familiarity with tools like Splunk, Wireshark, or similar log analysis software.
- Availability: Must be available for 20-30 hours per week, preferably during business hours.
- Location: Based in Austin, TX or willing to work hybrid (open to candidates in Ohio).
