Your Mission:
In this role, you will act as the first line of defense, identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating risks before they escalate. You will enjoy the autonomy of a part-time schedule while contributing to high-stakes security initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Threat Monitoring: Monitor security alerts and SIEM logs in real-time to identify suspicious activities and potential intrusions.
- Incident Response: Assist in the triage, investigation, and containment of security incidents using standard playbooks and forensic tools.
- Vulnerability Management: Conduct routine vulnerability scans and perform manual testing to identify weaknesses in network configurations and applications.
- Compliance Support: Assist in maintaining compliance with internal policies and external standards such as SOC 2 and HIPAA.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date security logs, incident reports, and audit documentation.
- Access Control: Review and manage user access requests to ensure the principle of least privilege is strictly enforced.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, network security, or information security.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent military/industry experience).
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or CISSP is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and familiarity with firewall management and IDS/IPS systems.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Availability: Must be available to work part-time hours (e.g., 20-25 hours per week) with flexibility for evening or weekend coverage as needed.
