Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems to detect and analyze suspicious network activity
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on critical infrastructure
- Investigate security incidents, document findings, and recommend remediation actions
- Implement and maintain security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection platforms
- Generate comprehensive security reports for stakeholders and executive leadership
- Stay current on emerging threats and industry best practices through continuous research
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ or CEH certification preferred
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, or similar)
- Proficiency in network security protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in part-time capacity
- Basic knowledge of incident response frameworks (NIST, SANS)
