Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Java/Python in AWS cloud infrastructure
- Lead API development and microservices architecture for high-traffic government applications
- Optimize system performance and troubleshoot complex production issues during off-peak hours
- Implement DevOps best practices including CI/CD pipelines and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies for rapid iteration
- Maintain strict compliance with FedRAMP and NIST security standards
- Mentor junior engineers through pair programming and technical reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with 5+ years software development
- Expertise in Java/Python and proficiency with RESTful API design
- AWS certification (Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration
- Experience with federal security frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53)
- Proven track record of debugging mission-critical production systems
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to work independently during night shifts
