Job Description
We are looking for a visionary Lead Architect to spearhead the The 2026 Initiative, a bold roadmap to achieve quantum supremacy in scalable cloud environments. At Aether Systems, we are not just building software; we are architecting the computational infrastructure for the next century.
As a key leader in our Quantum Division, you will bridge the gap between theoretical physics and scalable software engineering. You will define the architectural patterns for quantum-classical hybrid systems, ensuring our platforms are resilient, scalable, and ready for the quantum era.
Why Join Us?
- Impact: Work on technology that will redefine cryptography, material science, and AI.
- Equity: Significant equity package tied to the success of the 2026 Initiative.
- Flexibility: Hybrid work model based in our SF headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-level system architecture for quantum processing units (QPUs) and classical control layers.
- Lead a team of quantum software engineers and research scientists to develop fault-tolerant quantum algorithms.
- Oversee the integration of quantum simulators with real-world superconducting hardware.
- Establish best practices for quantum error mitigation and noise resilience.
- Collaborate with product management to define the roadmap for 2026 enterprise quantum solutions.
- Conduct technical due diligence on emerging quantum hardware stacks.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with at least 3 years specifically in quantum computing, cryptography, or high-performance computing.
- Deep expertise in quantum programming frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, or Microsoft Q#.
- Strong proficiency in Python, C++, and Rust.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a high-growth tech environment.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
