Responsibilities
- Monitor & Analyze: Continuously monitor security events and alerts using SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, or similar) to identify potential threats in real-time.
- Incident Response: Assist in the triage, investigation, and remediation of security breaches and incidents.
- Vulnerability Management: Perform routine vulnerability scans and basic penetration testing activities under the supervision of senior security staff.
- Threat Hunting: Conduct proactive searches for indicators of compromise (IOCs) and suspicious network activity.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of security incidents, investigations, and system configurations.
- Policy Enforcement: Support the implementation and enforcement of security policies and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA).
- Collaboration: Work closely with IT operations, DevOps, and management to improve overall security posture.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certification: CompTIA Security+ (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), the OSI model, and common network protocols.
- OS Proficiency: Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems, including command line interfaces (CLI).
- Tools: Basic knowledge of SIEM concepts and security tools is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
