Responsibilities
- Monitor Security Events: Analyze alerts from SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to identify potential threats and false positives.
- Incident Response Support: Assist senior analysts in triaging and responding to security incidents according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Vulnerability Management: Support the execution of vulnerability scans and assist in prioritizing remediation efforts for identified flaws.
- Log Analysis: Review system logs and network traffic to detect anomalous behavior indicative of malware or intrusions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of security events, incidents, and compliance requirements.
- Threat Hunting: Participate in proactive hunting exercises to uncover hidden threats within the network.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ (or higher) is highly preferred; Security+ CE is a plus.
- Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, DNS, HTTP, and common network protocols.
- Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux and Windows command line interfaces (CLI).
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings.
- Licensure: Ability to obtain necessary government security clearance (if applicable).
