Responsibilities
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity
- Assist with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing initiatives
- Document security incidents and maintain incident response logs
- Collaborate with incident response teams during security events
- Participate in security awareness training for employees
- Research emerging threats and contribute to threat intelligence reports
- Support security policy development and compliance audits
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- CompTIA Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments
- San Diego residency preferred (local candidates encouraged)
