Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and security alerts using SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) to detect and respond to suspicious activities in real-time.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and code reviews to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
- Investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement immediate remediation strategies to minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict compliance with NIST 800-53, FISMA, and other federal security frameworks and standards.
- Configure, manage, and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and access control systems to protect network perimeter integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies and best practices across the organization.
- Prepare detailed incident response reports and maintain comprehensive security documentation for audit purposes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related technical field (Master’s degree is preferred).
- Certification such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or Security+ is highly desired.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity analysis, incident response, or network security.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and common network protocols.
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including Splunk, FireEye, Snort, or Cisco Firepower.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) as required.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
