Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze security alerts using SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) to identify and respond to cyber threats in real-time
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents, documenting findings and recommending remediation actions
- Develop and maintain security documentation including playbooks, policies, and incident response procedures
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement security controls and ensure compliance with NIST, ISO 27001, and NYDFS regulations
- Stay current with emerging threats and threat intelligence through continuous research and training
- Present security posture reports to executive stakeholders with actionable insights
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat analysis
- Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ (preferred)
- Proficiency in SIEM tools, network security protocols (TCP/IP, DNS), and cloud security frameworks (AWS/Azure)
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, PCI-DSS)
- Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, Qualys) and penetration testing methodologies
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to prioritize threats and communicate complex issues clearly
