Responsibilities
- Monitor security events using SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar) and correlate threat intelligence to identify potential breaches
- Conduct forensic investigations of security incidents and coordinate remediation with cross-functional teams
- Implement and maintain security controls including IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection solutions
- Develop and execute penetration testing methodologies to identify vulnerabilities
- Generate comprehensive security reports for executive leadership and regulatory compliance
- Stay current with emerging threats (APT groups, ransomware, zero-day exploits) and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with IT operations to ensure secure system configurations and patch management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on security operations experience (SOC, incident response, or threat detection)
- Certifications: Security+, CISSP, or GIAC preferred
- Expertise in SIEM tools, network protocols, and operating system hardening
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA)
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to prioritize critical security events
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one
